My Online Stuff
It should be obvious to you by now that I enjoy writing. I’ve been writing since I was a kid, research papers were my favorite thing to do in college. I was fortunate while in the army to have jobs that allowed me to write. I was the official SIGSEC platoon report writer early in my career, later while at Joint Special Operations Command, I did research on Soviet signals intelligence collection (SIGINT)…I actually wrote a book on Soviet intelligence collection ships that were disguised as fishing trawlers, also known as AGI. The last few years I was in I wrote awards and evaluation reports.
But life moves fast, and if you aren’t careful your brain will atrophy into mush. I’ve written tons of stuff on the ‘net over the past decade, here are some essays I wrote in the early part of this decade:
Lt. General Nathan Bedford Forrest
Unmasking “Silverface” Fender Amps (one of the top 10 favorite articles at The Free Information Society)
Battle of Cowpens (American Revolution)
Here are some of my personal recipes…of course I have to give a little more information than just how to cook the dish:
Memphis Style Pit BBQ (recipe)
Guamanian Grilled Chicken (recipe)
Pork Roast and Sauerkraut (recipe)
Beer Cheese Soup (recipe) (similar to that found at Specialty Restaurants’ 91st Bomber Group, 101st Airborne, and their other WWII based restaurants)
Stovetop Sausage Casserole (recipe) (a variation on a recipe given me by my dear friend Cliff Freeman)
And finally, music. I have a lifelong love of music, and though I suck as a musician, I had to try my hand at recording some songs. I wrote, performed, recorded, and produced all of these. It shows. Anyway, I had a lot of fun doing them, and learned an immense amount about recording and mixing music. Thanks to Dave “Snake” Aruba (hopefully not misspelled) of Brasilia, Brazil, for his help in mixing techniques, use of sampling software, moral support, and everything else he helped me with.
You will find my music at SoundClick here. They use a Java-based player for streaming, or you can download the MP3…though I don’t imagine you’d want to waste the space on your hard drive…it really sucks.
